We rescued orange husks from a local pressed juice company, turning them into this bright, citrus-kissed classic. Bursting with fresh orange aromas and a mellow sweetness, it’s the perfect splash for your next drink – it’s your Margarita’s best mate, lifts any cocktail, fizz it up with soda, or simply enjoy as a neat treat.

Aroma: Fresh orange zest with a burst of juicy citrus, backed by candied peel and soft spice notes.
Taste: Bright, juicy orange up front, with a bit of peel for balance. A little sweetness, and not bitter. Easy drinking, with a complex finish and just enough zing to lift any cocktail.

The Hero Ingredient
Our Triple Sec begins with orange peels rescued from Funk Drinks Co. They cold-press the juice for Perth’s bars, cafés and grocers, and we step in for the next part of the story. Instead of heading to the bin, the leftover peels are scooped up and soaked in high-proof spirit, drawing out every drop of bright, zesty flavour. The result is a liqueur that’s citrusy, vibrant and seriously mixable. Fresh juice by day, triple sec by night.

How we made it
Along with the orange peel magic, we use a neutral grape spirit made from leftover Barossa Valley wine skins — top-notch stuff that would’ve otherwise gone to waste. The peels take a bath in this spirit for 24 hours, pulling out every drop of oil from the zest. From there, we strain off the orange spirit and run it through the still again with even more oranges, plus a handful of native botanicals hanging inside so only the vapour brushes past them. The result is all citrus sparkle without the heavy bitter bits. To finish, we add a splash of cane sugar syrup and pure filtered water, then let it rest for a couple of weeks before bottling and labelling by hand.

We like our Triple Sec poured as a double shot with 75ml cranberry juice, 75ml soda water and finished with a squeezed fresh lime wedge. Feeling boujee? Swap it into this classic cocktail...
Cosmopolitan
- 20ml Triple Sec Liqueur
- 30ml Gone Bananas Vodka
- 20ml Cranberry Juice
- 15ml Lime Juice
Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with cubed ice, shake hard for 20 seconds, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime peel (saved from the one you juiced!)
